Word Of The Day

This holiday season we basked in the glory of Black Friday. That is, a bunch of people got up at the crack of dawn to stand in line at stores for shopping sales.

This is a relatively new event in Canada, and it was imported from the United States. There, Black Friday is usually enacted with shootings, taserings, and assorted violent acts as people vy for the last toaster oven to get Aunt Alice for Christmas. So far in Canada we haven't embraced that aspect of it yet.

I wonder if this is what the Americans had in mind with their 'Manifest Destiny'...
