My Wife comes from a Danish family, and I am told that in the Danish language, there is no word for 'please'.

And so I took it upon myself to get my Wife to get into the habit of using that word.

It took months. And months.

She’d ask for something, and I’d say, ‘What’s the magic word?’, and her response was invariably a very assertive ‘Now!’. I couldn’t tell if she genuinely didn’t understand the concept behind the word, or if she was just being feisty and stubborn for her own amusement until I lost enough hair in frustration that she figured it was worth it.
