I remember the dark times. The times of rotary phones. Phones without caller ID displays.
I remember the adrenaline rush when it rang. Would it be a friend? A relative? Or the bane of families sitting down to dinner... The telemarketer.
Nowadays, caller ID is ubiquitous. You look, you know. And ignore. These days it seems I have a phone for no other reason than to listen to it chime off every five minutes letting me know some carpet cleaning services has a special in my area, or that my bank wants to offer me new services.
But still. We know thanks to caller ID. We may now eat our dinner while it's still hot.
