My first girlfriend was an air cadet. Top Gun, staring Tom Cruise, was released around the time that we dated. I crashed and burned. I dated my second girlfriend, now my Wife, when the movie Cocktail was released. Tom cruise played a bartender. At the time, I was a bartender. We broke up. Repeatedly. When Days of Thunder, again with Tom Cruise, was released, I just ducked and covered. I'd learned my lesson, and swore never to date when a Tom Cruise film comes out.
