I remember loving TV in the 1980's. Excess from every angle: The colours. The fashion. The hair. The scandals.

And the sitcom. I watched a lot of them back in the day. It was always one misunderstanding after another, and no one having the common sense to ask one simple question for clarification which would have negated twenty five minutes of misplaced confusion.

Just rinse and repeat, don't worry about anyone learning anything and improving themselves in the next episode. Just rinse and repeat.
