On this day in 1985, the first Blockbuster video store opened.

I remember the olden days of video stores. You had to pay for a membership as well as the rental fee.

As video stores grew, the membership fees disappeared. Then DVD's appeared. Then online streaming appeared. Then video stores... disappeared.

While the plethora of entertainment at finger's length is wonderful, there's a part of me that misses going to the video store and searching for some little known title. The search was half the fun.

And now the fun is done.
