So the costume of Wonder Woman in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been released. There have been some great adaptations of superheroes on the big screen, such as Spider-man, Iron Man and Thor. Others... Not so much. Bat nipples anyone?
I was a little on the fence when I saw the costume for Superman in Man of Steel. Red underwear seems to be passé these days, so I can understand the elimination of them, and the only thing I didn’t much care for was the darker hues, and a very dirty yellow on the emblem. I still haven’t seen much of the new Batsuit, but from what I’ve seen, it’s not bad.
The Wonder Woman photo looks like it’s sepia tinted in that way director Zack Snyder loves so much. So I don’t know how much the colours will stand out. The skirt looks... blue. The boots look bronz-ish, and matches the eagle crest and belt. There’s some interesting lines on the torso and the belt forms an interesting, and I think subtle, ‘W’ pattern. About the only major complaint I have is the lack of stars on the skirt.
It’s not an absolute recreation, but it’s recognizable. And most importantly, this means a new set of action figures at Christmas!
