Today is Canada, the day Canada received permission from Mother Country Britain. We are still a relatively young country, having confederated in 1867.
And our Big Brother to the south, the United States of America, will have its Independence Day on July 4. So the two children of Britain living next door to each other.
The US of A is the definite Big Brother, the rebel sibling. In 1776, The United States, with its multi coloured hair, facial piercings and black leathers, screamed at Britain "Screw You, Mom 'n Dad! I'm leaving and never coming back!"
In Canada, we were the kid who didn't date and stayed home until age 40. Britain got tired of this and said, "Get out! And yes, you can put my picture on your money. But just... Go!".
